Haystack Mountain School of Crafts:

For over thirty years, Maine high school students have attended the Haystack Student/Craft Institute, a three-day intensive program for distinguished art students. Full-time Maine high school art teachers may recommend one student annually. This year Sierra Bowden, a junior, will represent Belfast Area High School in one of seventy-two available slots. Haystack is an internationally known craft facility. The high school student program allows serious art students an opportunity to work and learn in a studio craft environment and to study with outstanding artists. Sierra has been accepted into the ceramic program and is looking forward to honing her skills.
