Host Families Sought for Exchange Students

posted Apr 29, 2013, 7:12 AM by Jason Tozer
The Belfast Rotary Club is seeking local families in the BAHS residential area to host high school-age youth from countries around the world during the 2013-2014 academic school year.  These students are part of the Rotary International Youth Exchange program.  Exchange students come to the US for one year to attend high school, enjoy a positive life-changing experience, grow in independence and maturity, improve their English language skills, and build relationships with Americans.

Each family hosts an exchange student in their home for about 5 months.   The students are expected to share in household responsibilities as well as being included in normal family activities.  Past hosts generally agree that they receive more than they give through this experience.  If your family would like to learn about another culture and share ours, this is a great way to do it.

To learn more about Rotary’s student exchange program and becoming a host family, please contact D. Andrews at 505.1657 or Su Wood at 338-6116.
