Students were divided into four teams as they competed throughout the day identifying terrestrial and aquatic species as well as completing written exams in forestry, soils, wildlife, and aquatic science. They also made a poster and presentation on this year’s current issue topic, invasive species. The teams would like to thank Cloe Chunn and Aleta McKeage for their help on a field trip to learn about sampling methods for invasive species. One of the Belfast teams won 1st place out of 19 teams to advance to the state competition at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton, ME.

The 1st place team from regionals, consisting of Alexis Racioppi, Leah Taylor, Ashley Flanders, and Cori Shooter, went on to states where they won a trophy by finishing in 3rd place out of 10 teams.
