Youth Art Month, promoting arts and arts education, is celebrated annually in March.

Every year members of the Maine Art Education Association are permitted to select one artwork to be displayed at the Portland Museum of Art in their annual Youth Art Month exhibition. This year a photograph, by BAHS student Grace Bonarrigo, was selected.

From the Portland Museum of Art website:

For more than twenty years, the PMA has collaborated with the Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) to bring National Youth Art Month to Maine. This annual observance emphasizes the value of art education and encourages support for quality school art programs. At the PMA, this annual event comes with a reception and an exhibition that showcases artwork in a variety of media by K-12 students throughout the state. The exhibition runs March 1 through April 3, 2017 and is on the Lower Ground Floor of the PMA.

The Maine Education Association (MEA) and Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) also partner to celebrate Youth Art Month. Any MAEA member, who is also a MEA member, may submit a request for one student to be chosen for the show. Only thirty pieces of artwork are selected from requests submitted by k-12 arts educators throughout the state.  Horace Mann Insurance partners with Michaels to frame all the work. The show runs from March through to October annually. This year a photographic diptych, by BAHS student Malcolm Dunson-Todd, was selected.
