Some Belfast Area High School students and staff showed up for an Earth Day coastal clean-up project organized by Alexander Doyne-Ditmas. We met up at 1030am. It was a beautiful weather day with just a slight wind out of the north east. About ten of us helped pick the shoreline from the boathouse to just in front of French & Webb. Lots of trash picked up including two tires, cans, assorted bits of plastic and fiberglass (some pretty large), some bits and pieces of iron, a little bit of glass and a golf ball. One of the more interesting things found in the water was a piece of strawberry pie!...it was actually a plastic piece of pie from a child's kitchen play set. Nice weather and good people made this a fun project. Thank you Alex for putting this together.
